Use a mild foaming face wash
Instead of a creamy face wash, go in for a gel-based foaming face wash during this season. It refreshes your skin and also removes dirt and impurities, thereby making your face clean and spot-free. However, choose a product that suits your skin type. For example, if you have oily skin a face wash that contains salicylic acid or neem is best suited for your skin.
Use an SPF at all times
Even when the sun is not out, use an SPF of 30++. This will not only prevent you from getting tanned but will also make sure that your skin is not susceptible to developing age spots due to the constant exposure to the harmful UV rays of the sun.
Age proof your face
Just as crucial as it is to ensure that your skin does not darken during the day, similarly, at night use an anti-ageing cream which contains retinoid (a chemical compound that contains vitamin A and boosts collagen and reduces fine lines). Retinoid helps cure lines and age spots which are caused by the rays of the sun. Thus, the best time to apply a cream that contains this ingredient is during the night, before you get to bed.
Up your fluid intake
Another way you can protect your skin during this season is by drinking lots of water and fluids through the day. Dermatologists suggest that when you wake up in the morning, consuming a glass of seasonal fresh fruit juice like that of a watermelon will keep your skin hydrated. Further, it will also cleanse your system and keep your skin fresh. Vegetable juices made from cucumber, tomato and kale will keep your skin glowing at all times.
Cool off with a facial mist
When out for a longer duration of time during the day, always spray a facial mist to keep your skin rejuvenated. Facial mist is basically water that also contains minerals, anti-oxidants and sunscreen that nourishes and protects your skin. It instantly cools your face and brightens your overall look.
Scrub on dry skin
Pollution is usually high during the summer, so one of the best ways to ensure that you remove dirt and grime from your face is by using a scrub on dry skin before you wash your face. But restrict using it at least twice during this weather. Also, use a scrub that isn’t too harsh so that your skin does not start peeling off.
Treat dark patches on your skin
Usually your forehead, cheeks and upper lips tend to suffer the most during this season. That is why ensure that you treat the dark patches on these areas. Use homemade packs made with lemon and gramflour on these areas each time before you wash your face. This will help lighten the marks. You can also try using creams and serums which are typically suited for this time of the year.
Ensure acne-free skin
Another major concern during the summer is acne. To fight this problem, use face washes and creams which will keep your skin supple and pimple-free. Use an anti-bacterial face wash at least twice during the day and once during the night before you apply a night cream to keep acne at bay. You can also try using homemade face packs with neem and mint, which cools your face and also treats acne scars.
Summer proof your eyes and lips
Last but not the least, your eyes and lips are also prone to pigmentation during this weather. Apply a cooling pack on your eyes — green tea bag dipped in cold water or ice pack on your eyes before you retire for the night. For your lips, use a pack made of cucumber and aloe vera to lighten the dark patches. You can also use a lip balm that contains SPF during the day so that your lips do not darken.
