Sultan went on floors on November 22 without the makers having finalising either of the two heroines that are supposed to be a part of the film
Salman Khan is working hard on his next film – Sultan which is being directed by Gunday director Ali Abbas Zaffar. The film is one of the most awaited ones of next year as it will see the actor playing a wrestler for the first time and is all set to clash with Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees on Eid 2016.
The makers started shooting Sultan in the last week of November although none of the heroines of the film were finalised. Since Yash Raj Films had already announced the release date of their film, they decided to begin shooting the Bigg Boss 9 host’s scenes to avoid any delay. However a source exclusively told BollywoodLife that Kumkum Bhagya actress Mrunal Thakur who plays Bulbul in the popular Zee TV show has been approached for Sultan. The source said, “Mrunal has been approached to play one of the two heroines in Sultan. At the moment, things aren’t finalised as yet.”
As per the latest reports, the telly actress quit Kumkum Bhagya since the plot of the show revolved around the two lead characters and her character was also becoming somewhat stagnant. When BollywoodLife got in touch with Mrunal to check if the actress is indeed doing Sultan, the actress said, “No comments.”Our source added that Sultan isn’t the first film offered the telly actress. Mrunal was earlier approached for Aamir Khan’s Dangal as well. Though Mrunal might be mum on her Bollywood debut opposite Salman, the timing of her exit from Kumkum Bhagya has only raised curiosity levels.
While no one has been finalised to play the actor’s leading lady, a lot of names right from Kangana Ranaut, Parineeti Chopra to Deepika Padukone have been doing the rounds. “The names of a number of actresses floated around, but nothing has been finalised yet. We are still working on it and an announcement will be made soon. We have begun shooting so that we meet our deadline as the release date has already been announced and we do not want to delay the project,” said a source working on the project.
