Simple Steps to Make Your Own Aloe Vera Gel at Home

Aloe vera is a succulent plant, i.e., it is a plant that has water-storing tissues so that it can adapt to an arid climate. Within the plant leaf, a transparent, jelly-like substance is found. It is called aloe vera gel. The gel extracted from the leaves of this plant has been traditionally used for its medicinal properties.

How to Make Aloe Vera Gel at Home

You Will Need
An Aloe Vera Plant
Coconut oil
Vitamin E oil
Citric Acid
Equipment Required for the Preparation
Sanitized Container
Steps to Prepare the Gel
Wash your hands clean before you handle the aloe vera plant. This is so that it lasts for long.
First cut an outer, full-grown, mature leaf from the plant, leaving about an inch from the bottom. Keep the leaf in an upright position and drain off the resin that comes out of it. Wash the leaf.
Peel off the green skin of the leaf. Make sure you cut/trim off the prickly edges of the leaf before you peel away the skin.
With a spoon or a knife, take out the inner gel that the leaf contains.
Now churn the gel in a blender for a few seconds to bring about a uniform consistency. If you blend the gel in excess, the consistency will become watery.
To make the gel more effective and to preserve it to every quarter cup of aloe vera gel, you can add:

• Powder of 500 mg vitamin C
• 400 IU vitamin E
• 1 tablespoon coconut oil

Vitamin E and vitamin C help in preventing discoloration of the gel and increasing its shelf life.
Alternatively, you can soak some fenugreek seeds overnight. Then when you blend the gel, you can also add the soaked fenugreek seeds and grind them along with it.
